A COMPARISON OF EFFICACY OF INTRANASAL FENTANYL AND INTRANASAL DEXMEDETOMIDINE AS PREMEDICATION IN PEDIATRIC PATIENTS

Objective: The objective of the study was to determine effects intranasal fentanyl compared dexmedetomidine, when used for relieving pre-operative anxiety in children on basis onset and quality anxiolysis, parental separation, hemodynamic stability, cooperation mask holding. Methods: A prospective observational conducted Government Medical college Kottayam a period 12 months from December 2021 2022, randomly assigned total 40 pediatric patients (the American Society Anesthesiologists I II) age group 3–6 years, undergoing elective surgeries requiring general anesthesia who received either (group F) or dexmedetomidine D). Onset anxiolysis using modified Yale scale. Parental separation score, holding were compared. Data collected analyzed SPSS version 25. Results: Children as premedication had better group. In parent-child found be than dexmedetomidine. Conclusion: We conclude that is superior population years.
